Your production generates data.
Make it usable.

Production and energy data becomes a basis for decisions only in context.

Machines deliver values, but a comparison by plant, shift or batch still calls for exports to be merged. Time stamps, units and interfaces do not match automatically. It therefore stays open whether a higher consumption comes from the product, from the operating state or from a fault. A usable data base needs a continuous and verifiable path from the data source to the analysis.

For that, acquisition, preparation and use have to be planned together. Otherwise the analysis stays dependent on manual rework and on the knowledge of individuals.

In a free first conversation we clarify which controllers are in the house, which question the data is meant to answer and where it has to arrive.

From the controller into the business processes

IQstruct Engineering opens up existing data sources, installs edge hardware and connects it via Aurora with analyses and target systems.

PLCs, energy and media meters and other devices with interfaces are connected via controller adapters, OPC UA, REST and MQTT. Time references link energy values with machines and production batches.

Asset administration shells add structured product and asset information. From the initial survey to operation, interfaces, data requirements and use are defined together; support, updates and monitoring can be part of it.

Ai

Industrial IoT

Machines, meters and business systems share one data base

Production information leaves the individual controller and is available where it is needed.

Scope of services

Connect the sources

Open up machines and meters over suitable protocols.

Assign the values

Link measured values with plants, shifts or batches.

Supply the systems

Set up data flows to dashboards, databases and business systems.

The data path in the project

  1. Three people plan the metering points of a production site at a table, the energy metering concept on the large screenAi

    1

    Create the metering concept

A metering point plan organises electrical consumers and production areas.

  2. A technician wires an energy meter in the control cabinet while a colleague checks the connection on a laptop next to compressorsAi

    2

    Connect the meters

Energy meters are connected to the edge PC, for example via RS-485 and suitable converters.

  3. Two people set up an OPC UA adapter with connection settings and node selection on a monitorAi

    3

    Configure Aurora

Adapters and data flow are set up in Aurora without programming.

  4. Three people in a meeting room discuss a dashboard with power curves, energy balance and an asset tableAi

    4

    Check incoming energy data

Current values, timestamps and trends arrive in the dashboard and are checked.

Our own middleware for the data path

Aurora connects controllers, machines and measuring devices with the systems that use their data.

Adapters, time series and target systems are set up to match your data task. The joint configuration records which values are read, processed and passed on. Existing interfaces and places of operation determine the setup. IQstruct Engineering is a member of the Industrial Digital Twin Association (IDTA).

Project experience

Energy data monitoring at a brick works

Looking at energy and production together at a backing brick works.

IQstruct Engineering has delivered energy data monitoring for a backing brick works. The solution brings together values from transformer stations, the photovoltaic system and the combined heat and power plant with production data. Consumption can therefore be viewed in relation to the batches produced. Meter trends are available individually, aggregated and historically. The example shows why a single meter reading does not yet provide a reliable statement about the energy demand of a production step.

Frequently asked questions

We are glad to answer your detailed questions in a personal conversation.

Can savings be quantified before the data analysis?

We quantify savings on the basis of reliable measured values from your plant, that is, after acquisition and analysis.

Does the data connection disturb running operation?

The connection is planned and agreed with the interfaces and permitted communication paths of your plants.

Where are the data operated?

Locally in your environment, in a German data centre or in the cloud, depending on your requirements.
